FMM: You are a well-known ecosystem builder. Tell us about your background.

I have a rather eclectic background and my career has been a very long and winding road…I started my career as a clinician and researcher, then had the opportunity to complete an Executive MBA and explore the complexities of the health plan industry as a medical director. Subsequently, I became dedicated to compliance, quality, safety and more recently became focused on building emerging technology-powered ecosystems. I am considered to be a futurist, globalist, and innovator, dedicated to promoting ethics by design for emerging technologies such as blockchain, nanotechnology, quantum, genetic sequencing, and AI.

“My secret to success has always hard work, integrity, an insatiable appetite for learning about new technologies or new scientific discoveries.”

FMM: As a Healthcare Executive, futurist, and globalist. How did the pandemic change your vision?

Actually, it did not change my vision. It was actually the greatest source of validation as finally all the ” futuristic” projects I was engaged in for years became life-saving during the pandemic environment such as blockchain and AI powered healthcare and precision medicine. I actually wrote several articles on Linkedin that highlight how the pandemic acted as a catalyst for healthcare innovation https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/how-pandemic-instantly-removed-all-resistance-sadly-vasiliu-feltes/ and how the pandemic can cause a total disruption and reform of healthcare delivery models and the lifesciences industry. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/how-pandemic-instantly-removed-all-resistance-sadly-vasiliu-feltes/.

FMM: This past year you were named one of the Top 100 Global Women in Leadership, 100 Global Healthcare Leaders, Top 100 Global Finance Leaders, Excellence in Education Award, WBAF World Excellence Award in Social Entrepreneurship, and was a finalist for Top 100 Women in Social Enterprise and World Women Vision Awards. What is your secret to success? What advice would you give to future leaders?

My secret to success has always hard work, integrity, an insatiable appetite for learning about new technologies or new scientific discoveries. I also never decline any opportunities as I always feel that there is something to be learned from every project or initiative. My advice to future leaders is to not shy away from challenges, always seek to improve your knowledge and expertise, as well as to aim to find your niche where you can excel at.

FMM: You are the CEO of The Science, Entrepreneurship, and Investments Institute. Tell us about your initiatives as we move into 2021.

I am very excited to share that we are planning several international initiatives that are all centered around impact investing, digital identity, legal and economic empowerment. We are also hosting a convener that will focus on the impact of sciences on Global Entrepreneurship Ecosystems. This is a a crucial topic for the digital era that we are witnessing and the post-pandemic acceleration of digital transformation sparked by the deployment of several emerging technologies and ground-breaking scientific discoveries that have the power to reshape and redefine our global economy, society, and culture.

FMM: What are a few of your proudest moments?

Over the past decade I had the opportunity to design, launch and implement several innovative programs in the academic, not for profit and private in arenas. Additionally, I am proud of all the not for profit endeavors I have consistently been involved with over the past two decades from The Swiss Red Cross, to Women in AI, Inspired MInds, Blockchain in Healthcare, United Nations Legal and Economic Empowerment Network, the European Union Observatory Forum and WBAF – a G20 Affiliated Partner.
