FWM: Take us back into your career as a professional curve model.

I earned my cosmetology license right out of high school. I started to work in a salon and there was what was then called a “plus” magazine delivered. I thought, “I can do that.” And so, I did! I had an agent in Los Angeles and my first job within a week. I was traveling the world and living part time in New York within four months of that. I’m sure it helped that I was able to show up “camera ready” to every casting. I will hold tight to that cosmetology license my whole life! It happened fast and I was blessed to work for almost two decades with the same companies that felt like family. I learned so much at such a young age and I navigated that career on my own into adulthood. Looking back on that now, I see what I really accomplished: I managed my business – me! – while instantly becoming a grown up with a career. By the time I retired at 35, I had already had two careers. When you work in front of a camera, you get to observe the workings of everyone behind the camera. I’m very observant and, in a lot of ways, it was a master class for many of the things I do today.

FWM: When did you decide to spread Christmas Cheer and become known as “The Queen of Christmas?”

Christmasing was part of my life from my modeling days. I don’t sit still and there was always a hiatus during the holidays. This is how I filled it. It was low key back then but over the years grew exponentially.

I took to social media three years ago because I was having issues with my hands and arms. It was clear I could not decorate all the spaces in the world with my two hands but it was also clear that I still had so much to give. My first post was September 21, 2019, with 100 Christmasers – that’s what I call anyone following my account. Today our community on Instagram alone is over 200,000. We invested into Youtube this season with long-form tutorials and that was also wildly successful.  Christmas brings people from all over the world together. My account is really pretty but it’s also real, authentic and features my entire family. I’m with my husband Kyle 24/7 and our two young boys are always with us, as well. We are special-needs parents. It’s not always perfect but it’s always real. And that’s all anyone really wants to see.

I took the QOC title after Year One on Instagram when the Christmasers and companies I worked with started to call me that. The thing is, I’ll never stop trying to earn it. Real queens straighten crowns and that’s what I do on repeat. I’m not sure what I’m really the Queen of…. Christmas decor, Christmas Spirit or the Christmasers! But I’ll keep straightening crowns without ever acknowledging they were crooked. My whole life is making things and people feel loved and beautiful – the most powerful beauty is on the inside. That’s where I start.

FWM: You have crafted over 2,750 spectacular designs that have caught Instagram influencers, celebrities and home décor companies. What is trending this holiday?

Joy! Joy is the trend that needs to resonate at this point in the season. I always say to do what brings you joy! Yes, we leaned into winter blues this season and copper was on the top of my list. Classic red didn’t disappoint and retro Christmas and treasure trees had their moment. But… At the end of the day, joy was the only trend that mattered.

FWM: Share your favorite collaborations.

That’s like asking me to choose my favorite child because what I create feels like creative births with my friends.

I met Desi Perkins in 2020 when Instagram served her the Grinch tree I made for my son. Desi and her family have become a part of our family and we have made some epic holiday magic together from Easter, Halloween to Christmas – and the best part is: We’ve done it all together with our families. Talk about a true collaboration!

I created Christmas magic with Shay Mitchell last year that really sent tree ribboning to the next level. Her home was effortless to deck and that truly was a Christmas to remember!

This year Kelly Rowland and I really changed the game for exterior Christmas – in So Cal you can be outdoors all year long so we created a porch moment for the books – which is also where we connected as moms for the first time, so that was extra special.

We are all still joy filled over that hot cocoa stand and big Christmas moment on Jen Atkins’ porch.

I am known for dancing around trees, but this year I really wanted to spend more time in other parts of the home. The attainable details that these spaces and more inspired really created some next-level Christmasing.

FWM: Why is Christmas so important to you?

I fashion myself His party planner – so planning and decorating for His party to celebrate His birth. That’s what fuels me.

FWM: Tell us about your community of Christmasers. What are you sharing this holiday?

I share everything with the Christmasers! With the exception of my family, this Christmaser community may be the most important thing I have done with my life.  People are just looking for a place to belong and I try to create that space. It’s inclusive to all and they can feel it. It feels a lot like love. Sometimes new

Christmaers are still blown away that I respond or give my time. I’m famous for my voice memos! I can’t be in all places but I can sure be in a lot more with the assistance of Instagram and YouTube. We are on TikTok and Pinterest as well but Instagram is where I hang out daily and it’s the app I kinda know how to use – ha!

FWM: How will you spend this Christmas?

I will have a very quiet Christmas at home with my family  – celebrating the birth of our King. I have mastered taking the hustle and bustle out of Christmas. I’m onto the “all is calm, all is bright” moments now. That’s where you’ll find me.
