Author, Media Personality and Filmmaker, Cindy Mich

Meet Filmmaker Cindy Mich

FWM: When did your love for storytelling begin?

Frankly, I became a fan of the written word at about age nine. Up to that point, I thought I was meant to be an artist. I spent significant amounts of time drawing spiders, and then one day realized they all looked the same, and none were noteworthy. So, I started doing the only other thing that felt like it fit – writing. The more I put words down on paper, it became bluntly obvious to me that I had found one of my great loves in life.

FWM: Did your upbringing influence your decision to become an Author?

My childhood pushed me more into my chosen passion. I came from a home where both parents were both emotionally unavailable and unstable; one of which was abusive and carried an addictive personality. This brought about many challenges to me as a child, and so I attempted to find a safe escape from the sadness and sheer emptiness of the situation.

Being an Author meant you could create characters that were adored or admired. I could be significant or special and not alone or abandoned. I would not be made to believe I was a mistake. It is much easier to hide from your horrors with a whole new identity, and writing gave me that great gift.

FWM: Tell us about your writing.

Over a span of 35 years, I have written works that are designed to engage and entertain audiences. There are four movies, three plays, and countless features/editorial articles. I have written handbooks and workbooks for both the film industry and the medical field. I write both book and film review, and of course, I do all radio show content creation. Thus far, I have published a total of three books.

The first one was a children’s story about a girl who somehow finds herself standing face-to-face with an angel on a school bus. The second is all poetry, and these types of prose are my favorite genre to generate. The last book is a narrative biography of all the talent to come across my show in the last three years. I anticipate writing one final book (an autobiography of a gang member) to be penned in 2020.

FWM: How did you get involved in the media?

I love telling this story because so many people refuse to believe that I was not born into doing radio. I had been doing freelance journalism for years, and someone on social media read my work and reached out to me. He was one of the founders of an internet-based radio show platform, and they wanted me to create my radio channel. He stated that I had the right sound and skills to make for a strong show. I laughed, then called some of my musician friends to ask for advice on pursuing a broadcasting position.

The mass majority convinced me I had nothing to lose by doing a leap of faith and purging forth to tape a few episodes. I am a regular supporter of reality TV, so I tweeted one of the Real Housewives of Orange County to be my first on-air guest. She said yes, and although I was terrified for the whole time, I did it. Here I am ten years later with two shows and a following of 93,400 listeners in twenty states with a 10% international following.

FWM: Tell us about your radio shows, “Cin’s Chat Corner and Sons Spotlight.” What type of guests are you looking for?

I have oftentimes publicly stated that the guidelines for being my show guest are simple: you must either educate, entertain, motivate or inspire others. Fortunately for me, I have had over 325 of these types of people come across my platform. Sons Spotlight is a show that is specific to any type of biker relative person, place, or a particular event.

I started off interviewing stars from the hit FX show “Sons of Anarchy, however, the show ended and I still wanted to keep spotlighting motorcycle riders. Cin’s Chat Corner allows me to interview artists, authors, and actors. I host filmmakers, fundraisers, and financial institutions. I have also been privileged enough to interview Hollywood actors, celebrities, and of course, reality TV personalities.

FWM: You are the CEO of Cin’s Sweet Creations. Tell us your motivation behind building a business.

Cin’s Sweet Creations was started by myself back in 2005  to provide powerful personalized writings of all types, along with professional editing. I wanted to help people propel their businesses with proficient business plans. Brighten the day of a bride with personalized vows to her husband or gifts to groomsmen. Help a gentleman get the attention of the gal he is too afraid to admit his affections to in person.  To date, I offer personalized poetry, love letters, grant writing, and business plans, as well as small children’s e-books, how-to books, and of course, editing.

FWM: What is the number one asset that any Entrepreneur needs to solidify success?

Persistence. Anything worth having requires a large amount of hard work and heavy willpower. It is easy to give up or give in. Turning a profit or putting together a large following does demand a significant amount of sweat and skill. A smart business owner consistently creates interesting and intriguing methods to make products stand out to people.  You push and push until you find your major market; never allowing anyone to deter you from your dreams.

FWM: You have worked in the film industry for some time now. What are some of your most memorable moments?

Well, to be clear, I do wear many hats relative to film and filmmaking, and many have been memorable. I have held a huge love affair with the movies since I was a small girl. I used to dream about being on the red carpet with Hollywood celebrities and one day winning an Oscar. Movies allowed me another way to enter an alternate reality, and so of course, I chose to get more involved in the industry. My first job was a screening judge was for Studio City Film Festival, and I have moved on to judge over 600 films to date.  I then chose to act as an official red-carpet interviewer for Indie Film Festivals.

It was during my time there that I saw things that I liked and disliked about the circuit itself, causing me to create my film festival (Art is Alive). As I also hold a huge love for black and white movies, (along with my partner), we founded a festival together this last year entitled Bedford Falls Film Festival.

Earlier in the interview, I mentioned that I have written three films, and I finally took time this year to start filming the piece “A Hundred Looks of Love”. Since my partner is a SAG Actor, I am fortunate to be able to take my improvisational concepts and created a film with him. His talent on screen is truly extraordinary, and he has an immeasurably intensity about him that allows him to effectuate emotion from any audience. I am thrilled to be releasing our movie “A Life Saver” this Fall.

FWM: What is next for you?

Very shortly, to hold a successful and strongly attended film festival in NYC. Grow my radio show audience to over 100,000 listeners. Complete my short film “A Hundred Looks of Love” before the end of 2018. Increase the amount of written work that I publish, and finally, expand out our clothing line to include a larger array of amenities.
