Kimberly “Isis” Thomas, bringing our Unique Dopeness to the Forefront

Kimberly ‘Isis” Thomas, author, speaker and media queen uses her platform to empower, promote and connect with women all across the globe. Kimberly believes that our greatest service to other women is to use our life as an example and an encouragement to speak out on all issues that affect us. Through her empowerment lifestyle brand, I Hear That Girl! and her weekly podcast, “The Dope Black Chick’, Kimberly teaches us how to embrace our uniquely, individual dopeness.

FWM: Kim, thank you for this opportunity. Please introduce yourself and your business.

KIT: Love and light Queens! I am Kimberly “Isis” Thomas, Creator & CEO of I Hear That Girl!, an empowerment lifestyle brand for black women.

FWM: What drives you?

KIT: The sisters I meet every day drive me. I am enamored by how diverse and magical we are. And I am committed to making sure that these perspectives of life as a black woman will be represented in mass media.

FWM: How are you using your business to empower women?

KIT: My focus has been to utilize the power of media (broadcasting, digital, television, print) as a platform to showcase the intricacies of black life. We provide positive representation through our website, at curated empowerment events, coaching, and workshops.

FWM: Tell us about The Dope Black Chick Podcast.

KIT: The Dope Black Chick Podcast is all about helping women unleash their dopeness. The unique, quirky, unorthodox gifts in you are exactly what makes each and every one of us DOPE. I want women to embrace their individuality and use it to live unencumbered.

FWM: What is the one piece of advice that drove you to achieve your dreams?

KIT: I was about 9 years old and I remember my uncle had just quit a job working at DuPont. It was a lucrative job and he left it. My parents were talking to him and asked him what he was going to do. He said, “Yes, it’s good money, but when you work for someone else, they will never pay you your worth. Only you can give yourself that.” He opened his own auto mechanic shop the next week and has been a very successful entrepreneur ever since. I never forgot that.

FWM: Do you have any upcoming events?

KIT: Our next upcoming event is The Dope Black Chick Picnic, taking place at Piedmont Park, September 1st. This is a celebration of our unique dopeness. There will be meditation, affirmations, yoga, and sisterhood! You must register to attend, visit www.thedopeblackchick.com for more information.

FWM: What advice would you give your younger self growing up as a woman today?

KIT: Life is like the ocean. Relinquish control and allow the ebb and flow to pull you towards your potential. The universe is always trying to pull you towards your potential, let it.

FWM: How can our readers connect with you outside of this interview?

KIT: They can find me on social media:
