FWM: Tell us about your new podcast, “Comeback: with Erica Cobb.”

“Comeback: with Erica Cobb” started as a YouTube series in 2016 documenting my comeback journey from bankruptcy, divorce and unemployment in real time. Truth be told, it was my way of taking accountability for not living my most authentic self and finding community to join me on a quest for authenticity and growth.  Today it is a podcast that invites celebrities and testimony teachers to talk about their setback seasons and share their comeback journeys in hopes the audience will be inspired to embark on their own comeback journey.

FWM: What can we find on your show?

As a weekly series, “Comeback” stays timely to the temperature of the culture tackling issues such as Black Maternal Health, Black Business Amplification and Pop Culture.  Each week my listeners can get an intimate perspective of the guests and take away sage advice and encouragement.

FWM: What led you to this business venture?

I was inspired to start my “Comeback” brand as a path to achieving my dream of becoming a talk show host.  You always hear about the 10K hours that’s required to master your craft.  As the producer, host and editor of this series I not only honed my craft, a year to the date that I started Comeback, I took my seat as a co-host on the daytime talk show, “Daily Blast Live.”

FWM: “Everyone is deserving of the comeback they are willing to earn.” Explain.

I love this saying because I’m often asked if someone “deserves a comeback” and I respond “if they’re willing to earn it.”  If you are in a setback season and looking for a comeback that’s a humbling spot to be in.  If you’re willing to take ego out of the equation, find your path to redemption and put action behind it, you will eventually find your way to your greatest destiny.  That being said, none of this happens overnight, for me it took 5 years to get from under water and 8 years to realize some of the biggest hopes and dreams I aspired to in my lowest season.  So yes, you deserve a comeback if you display tenacity for the long haul.

FWM: Tell us about a few guests on your show.

Rachel Lindsay Abasolo, the first Black Bachelorette.  Rachel had to shoulder so much racism and vitrial while she was on the franchise and then again when the face of the franchise came under fire and was canceled.  She holds herself with so much honor and continues to thrive, recently becoming a first-time author!

Award winning actress, Yolonda Ross, was also so inspiring.  She is currently on Showtimes hit-show “The Chi.”  Yolonda shared her inspiring journey to advocacy through her character Jayda, and shaved her own head for her character’s breast cancer battle.  Her portrayal was so inspiring she actually raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for breast cancer survivors.

FWM: What do you enjoy the most about your show?

I get to speak with celebrities, testimony teachers and experts on a weekly basis and go deep into the most pivotal moments in their lives, I am constantly learning and exploring new perspectives.  It’s heartwarming to hear when someone feels inspired by my show.  But it has been one of the biggest blessings in my own life to date.
