Actress Charlotte Xia

FWM: You were born in Jinan and raised in Beijing, China. When did you discover the love for acting?

I remember always enjoy watching the Chinese TV series when I was in elementary school. My dad always bought me a lot of Series DVD’s, then I started to imitate some of their characters at home. I began to like acting and I dreamed of being seen on TV one day. At that time I always thought acting was a cool career because I could wear clothes from different eras and play different roles. I liked to dress up as a Little Princess, Witch or Evil Queen. I was very fortunate as a child that my father was so supportive and sent me to all the classes and training that interested me.

FWM: Describe your acting style.

I have a great sense of humor, I would say that I’m a comedian. If I have the chance, I’d rather play a role like Wonder Woman because I want to play the heroine and save the world.

FWM: You have been a successful international model. Share your journey.

At the end of 2014, I trained for Acting and Modeling at Barbizon School of Hollywood and started my modeling career. My first Fashion Show was the TME Fashion Show in 2016, and the same year I earned Miss Planetary International Pageant 2016 Finals – Top 6 in Las Vegas. Previously, I was with CIE Fashion Magazine and became a Professional Model.

FWM: When was your first break? What interested you about the project?

In 2017, I was in I Love You, America as a Union Featured Role. I had no speaking lines, but I got my first SAG-AFTRA Voucher, also I had three close-up shots. It was an important step at the beginning of my acting career.

FWM: You have a great comedic style. Tell us more.

My funny talent comes from my father, my father is very humorous and his every move is the object of my imitation. I can tell he trained me to have this talent.

FWM: You played a Naval Officer in “Top Gun: Maverick.” How enjoyable was this experience?

I really enjoyed, I’d like to say that Tom Cruise is a wonderful, attractive and professional actor. I deeply felt and learned that a good actor would quickly get into his role, instead of just reciting his lines.

FWM: You have a diverse background in the Arts. You are a singer and fashion designer. How does this translate into your acting?

Movies began to combine musical, broadway, arts or fashion..etc. For example: ‘The Greatest Showman’, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, ‘What to Watch’ or ‘The Squeeze’, I think the more talent you have, the better you can be in a movie.

FWM: Tell us about your role in Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television.

I was in ‘Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television’ as a Union Featured Role, I played a Police Officer in the very first episode and I remember I had a very special scene with the lead actors. The Director let me do an action scene: As a cop, I was going to arrest the criminal, and I had a simple line “Don’t resistance and don’t move” and I was going to catch him, also hold him down on the police car quickly and I was going to handcuff him. I was really nervous but I did it.

FWM: What roles are you looking for in 2020? What would challenge you?

I wish I could book a major role in a major movie.

Any big roles would challenge me because my acting career is just beginning.

Share your goals for 2020.

My goal is to book at least one good role in a major film.
