April Chavez: The Ultimate Modern-day Superwoman Shares, The Wellness Driven Life Show

April is the ultimate modern-day superwoman. From her past role as a deputy sheriff to her current journey of helping people achieve total wellness through The Wellness Driven Life Show, she’s changing lives and making an impact one microphone at a time. Despite living with Lupus her entire life, she lives full-force – hitting the trails in nature hikes and reigning on the dance floor with Manlee Chavez (Regional Safety Manager for FedEx Express). April indeed shows us what it means to live your best life!

FWM: Share your background and what led you to help people to achieve total wellness.

My story began when I was diagnosed with lupus at fifteen. I had been experiencing symptoms since birth, but it wasn’t until I received the diagnosis that my Rheumatologist gave incorrect information, which led me to look outside the medical field for answers. One of these pieces of misinformation was that I would never be able to have children; this caused me to stop taking harsh birth control methods.

However, when I became a mother at nineteen, I felt inspired to live as healthily as possible to meet their needs and show them an excellent example of caring for themselves. To prove that my illness didn’t define me and because it had always interested me, I decided to pursue a career in Law Enforcement – a dominantly male field.

Through my work in law enforcement, I noticed patterns between chaotic environments and how they affected individuals’ well-being; this only further drove me toward encouraging total wellness among people. Additionally, when I experienced emotional trauma, the effect on my health and well-being was evident, pushing me even more toward helping others with their wellness journeys.

Nowadays, my mission is to serve people worldwide by providing stories and knowledge that can help inspire others to S.I.P. life slowly to achieve total Spiritual, Intellectual, and Physical well-being. We aim for all individuals to have the necessary information to take charge of their wellness journey.

FWM: Share a few powerful stories from your guests.

Very few people have experienced the massive amount of grief that Barbara Daoust has experienced back-to-back. Here’s what she said her experience was like during our interview:

Barbara Daoust: Well, I have to say that it really wasn’t at all pleasant. I drank myself into a coma every night for about three years. I was what’s called and considered passive suicidal. I had what’s called situational PTSD, witnessing my husband, who was diagnosed with four-stage lung cancer on May 5, and gone three weeks later, on May 31. So it was a very traumatic experience to witness. And then I witnessed my father passing in front of me, my best friend passing in front of me, and finding my mother-in-law, as I said, and there was a lot of brain chemistry.

Many people don’t realize that grief depletes the serotonin levels in our bodies. And if you don’t have serotonin in your body, finding the happy factor is very challenging. And I have always been a very positive person. And so I thought. But I couldn’t have that viewpoint because I saw a biofeedback doctor and was told my serotonin levels were so low that I was borderline dying. And, you know, that was almost good news to me because that’s what I really wanted. I just wanted to be on the other side with everybody.

And not only do you lose, you know, your loved ones in this plane on in this real world, but there are a lot of other losses, from friendships to identity to professional relationships to people disappearing. You know, not being able to cope with somebody who’s grieving. I understand it, you know. So there were a handful of friends who remained by my side, bless their hearts, it was challenging, but I can say that I really was miserable and choosing to drink to anesthetize my pain. I had never been a drinker.

But a lot of what I experienced, April has helped me understand the people in that state, people who are not just grieving, but people who might be victims or traumatized or, you know, I just have a different understanding. I would never judge anybody who takes their life, mainly because brain chemistry can create a psychotic episode, and they may not even know they’re doing it.

So, there’s so much to us, and to better understand, in my work, I help people understand the connection between the spiritual, the intellectual, and the physical world. A lot of us are just focused on either physical, or we’re focused on either spiritual, or we’re focused on the intellectual, you know, but it takes all three working together to help us create our fullest potential.

Another fascinating interview was with our guest, Carmel Bell, one of the World’s top ten Medical Intuitives. Carmel has clinically died four times, bringing her to the other side with some profound revelations and messages to bring back to this realm. Two of her deaths were traumatizing, and it wasn’t without a strong emotional response when she spoke of them. What I found interesting about Carmel’s life is that despite being world-renowned and medically endorsed as one of the world’s greatest medical intuitives, she had experienced such tribulations and unacceptance within her community. She even had to take her children out of the school system because they were being tormented on her behalf. Carmel expressed immense gratitude for me as I thanked her for sharing her story and being a light in the world for others. She has written a book on her life, and it’s one that you can’t put down once picked up.

FWM: Share a few lessons you have learned as a host of such an inspiring show.

As a host of an inspiring show, I have learned many lessons. One is that everyone has something valuable to contribute regardless of their background. Everyone has important life experiences and insights that can be shared with others, so it’s essential to listen to every perspective.

I’ve also come to understand the power of connection. When we come together and share our stories with each other, it creates a sense of understanding and compassion. We are all in this life together, and understanding each other’s stories helps us build bridges between us.

Another lesson I’ve learned is the importance of authenticity. People respond positively when you are open, honest, and genuine in your interactions. This creates a space for them to open up and trust you as they feel heard and valued.

Finally, I have learned that healing comes from within. It starts with making the conscious decision to heal ourselves—to choose love over fear, to choose courage over doubt—and then to take action on those choices in our daily lives. Healing requires courage, but it is possible, even during tough times, if we believe in ourselves and take action toward our goals.
