Chin Simpson: The Power of Affirmations

Motivated to help people suffering from skin conditions, Chin Simpson started her skincare business with the best intentions. As her younger brother had psoriasis, Chin wanted to develop a product that utilizes quality ingredients and prioritizes moisturizing dry skin. Chin has always had the idea of starting a business since she was younger, but put her ideas into action during the pandemic. “I was in seventh grade and I remember writing down as many ideas as possible to pitch to my dad,” says Chin. “I remember having the silliest ideas like I wanted to have a sticker business; a notebook business.” Set on the idea of developing dermatologist-approved products, Chin spent time working with pharmacists and chemists, blending medicine and raw ingredients, and successfully launched her brand, Skin Poem. The brand currently has four main products: two FP creams, a mist, and soap. Although Chin had the entrepreneurial mindset growing up, she wanted to keep her values and make sure that her brand reflected them. “Writing has always been my form of expression,” says Chin. “It’s not a random poem written at the back. When we were writing these poems, we were hoping to create positive affirmations that you can recite every day. Keep it to your heart, keep it to your mind.” Something unique about Skin Poem’s products is that each product has a poem or short affirmation verse written on it, and Chin was inspired to share the positive energy in hopes that customers can also feel supported. During the height of the pandemic, Chin experienced the impact of positive affirmations in her personal life as she focused on healing and discovering healthier mindsets. Chin is excited to continue working on upcoming, additional product launches to slowly build her brand in a healthy way. Chin’s values are rooted in helping the community and her family-oriented approach also aligns with Skin Poem’s growth. Even her relationships with the team at Skin Poem and friendships in her life are grounded on support and genuinely being there for one another. Chin …… “If we have these core values in u, then it will also attract the right things and manifest into something good,” says Chin. “We will all grow together deeply into a working relationship that will turn into a friendship and then it will turn into a partnership.” In the coming years, Chin hopes that Skin Poem can be an established brand that not only has been loved by customers for their products, but also recognized for its good intentions. Rather than focusing on making her brand known worldwide, Chin wants to maintain her values and become a brand that people can depend on. Chin wants to share her wisdom with others to trust yourself in the process and remind yourself with the affirmation that everything will be okay. “You are exactly where you are supposed to be.
