FWM: Traci, thank you for taking time out of your schedule to conduct this interview with me.  Please introduce yourself to our readers.

TH: Hello! My name is Traci Henderson & I’m a Certified Personal Trainer from Memphis, TN, now residing in Princeton, NJ. I started my fitness career in 2014 after developing a love for working out & trying new styles of exercise.

FWM: What led you to the fitness lifestyle?

TH: Girl. The summer of 2010. I was living life—eating out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner…before I knew it I had gained 20 lbs.! Not only could I no longer fit into my clothes, but I also noticed that I was short of breath & simple tasks made me tired. I knew it was time for a change.

FWM: Your motto, “What is Passion without Purpose?” resonates with me. Please expound on this.

TH: I’m happy to hear that. God put us here for a reason. He designed us all uniquely with our own special gifts that should be used to glorify him and his kingdom. If we hoard these gifts & only use them for personal gain or pleasure, them what good are we to anybody? I believe that our passion (spiritual gifts) should be coupled with a desire to create change in the world.

FWM: What keeps you motivated?

TH: Knowing that other women are looking to me for encouragement. Ironically enough, during those times when I’m in need of encouragement I’ll receive a DM or be tagged in a story where a young lady shares how my content has benefited her.

FWM: Do you feel that being fit is empowering?

TH: Absolutely! Beyond aesthetics (which is just the icing on the cake, IMO) it feels SO GOOD to challenge the limits of my body & accomplishing feats that were previously impossible.

FWM: What is the best way for women to track their fitness progress?

TH: It depends on whether the goal is aesthetic or performance based. For those who have aesthetic “body goals” I recommend taking monthly progress pictures. For those who have a performance goal (improve strength, balance, or flexibility), I recommend doing monthly evaluations. A month is generally a large enough time window to witness improvement.

FWM: When we plateau in our fitness goals, how do we take it to the next level?

TH: Change up your diet & exercise program. Don’t be afraid to try new things, whether it be food or style of exercise, but avoid fad diets.

FWM:  What’s next for Traci Henderson?

TH: I just started a YouTube channel! I plan to continue to give workout ideas & exercise tips, BUT in addition I’m showing you ladies how to prepare healthy meals.

FWM: How can our readers connect with you outside of this interview?
