DRESSES FOR EVERY SHAPE, SIZE & VIBE

BIT BY THE COMFY BUG

Okay, we both can admit that this lockdown or lockdowns have us wanting to opt for pajamas on a daily basis. The holidays definitely doesn’t help either.

The “Perfect Winter Living Room Outfit” is key to your pictures and memories this year.

Let’s face it, even though this was a long long year for us, we still want to capture those moments of joy. The last thing you want is all of your pictures to look like you lounged around all year long.

In Part 1 We discussed tops and bottoms. Part 2 We are going to take a deep dive into dresses that will have you feeling fabulous and accessories that shine. Make sure you stick around for Part 3 where we will put together our pieces to create our “Perfect Winter Living Room Outfit with Accessories.”

YOUR SHAPE IS BEAUTIFUL, JUST LIKE YOU

As women we put a lot of pressure on ourselves. Let me correct that, as ambitious leading business women we put A LOT of pressure on ourselves.

The biggest pressure comes from us wanting to get our figures right. I admit, I am a tiny little lady but I too sometimes -even as a fashion expert- feel like I just can’t find the right clothes to fit me.

I know this isn’t the only thing you are telling yourself.

Very quickly, there are two main myths I want to bust before we move on:

#1 Myth: If you are a curvy woman, you can’t dress like a skinny woman.

So not true! Every shape can have an hourglass figure. You have to know what works for you. Hourglass shape is an illusion.

#2 Myth: Buy clothes you hope to wear in the future.

Buy things you can wear now, not in the future. You can choose items that can transition with you during seasons and weight gain/loss. Stop torturing yourself Boss Lady!

TIME TO WERK IT

Ok, groundwork is laid! So, let’s talk about having the “Perfect Winter Living Room Dress!” The key to any great outfit and look is your attitude. This can make or break your looks. Before we begin, I know in PART 1 we talked about having a vibe (read more here), it’s the same even when choosing dresses.

There are 3 vibes we are going to talk about today. We have the Happy Holiday Festive vibe, Mistletoe Ready vibe, Take My Picture vibe.

Don’t worry I am going to give you the tea so you can dress your body type as well.

HAPPY HOLIDAY FESTIVE VIBE

Happy Holidays! I know that has your heart singing already. I couldn’t help myself and you feel the same way. You are in the festive mood, you love the ugly sweater, eggnog and all things holiday.

If you are going for the “Happy Holiday” vibe, using the XMAS colors in a whole new way will bring you joy.

For Tree green looks, opt for army green or emerald greens and blue jewel tones.

Jewel tones looks great against different skin tones

Command attention in any living room with these dresses

Simple and elegant is always a staple

Instead of Candy cane reds, deep reds, burnt orange, and peppermint pastels can brighten any living room.

Color always bring out the joy in others

Using Color to Camouflage

My clients and I use color to look radiant on camera. Color is a style hack used to enhance areas we like and detract from areas we don’t like- hello stomach and hips.

If you are smaller on top choose brighter colors and patterns. This adds more emphasis interest on top, retracting your eyes from the bottom.

This is the same concept if you are smaller on the bottom.

It’s the cut and color that creates a slim look with these picks

This works well if you have a stomach, heavier on the bottom, rounder midsection.

Others ways you can use color to camouflage is stripes or patterns. These dresses will have you ready for Holiday Vibes without having Holiday blues.

These dresses are puurrrfect sitting by the fire

You aren’t going to look like an every year it’s Christmas rerun…

MISTLETOE READY VIBE

Put me under the mistletoe so I can get a kiss from my Santa baby. I couldn’t resist… again. Mistletoe ready is for the Formidable boss that loves to look sexy without even trying. You ooze the “I want to kiss you” vibe.

For me, when I am with my husband this is how I am usually dressed. But the holidays are different. You are around family, so sexy has to be tasteful for grandma.

Sexy doesn’t always mean fitted to your body. Sexy is also an attitude.
Flared or fit and flare dresses are ideal for all shapes and sizes. They can be short to show legs or cut at the top to show a little skin.

Sheath dresses, A Line Dresses and Column dresses are great staples to have in your wardrobe. With the right pair of boots (thigh high or ankle) and leather coat, your look is ready for a winter walk to the living room.

Dresses with structure or draped can help you achieve feminine silhouettes.

TAKE MY PICTURE VIBE

Are you the type always wanting to take pictures of everybody and yourself? Don’t be ashamed every family should have one. This is how we get to laugh years later about what everyone was wearing!

Every good picture and holiday is not complete without some shimmer and shine!

True Metallics

To be clear metallics are not a fabric it is a metal. Clothes that have the metallic look use a special thread to give it that look.

Shine bright like a star with these threads

What about sequins?

Sequins give you less shine and more glow if you want to opt out of the traditional metallic.

Want to be subtle with a hint of sparkle? Opt for sequins

Fair warning

Fair warning to you, if you don’t want to enhance problem areas on your body, don’t wear sequins or metallics there. If you go with bright popping sequins it will make you look larger. Small dark sequins make you look smaller.

I love a neutral tone sequin. Just enough shine without being too flashy.

Don’t Overdo it

This year it’s more about family than ever before. So regardless of the vibe you choose, you can make any look feel festive and picture ready. One of the tried and true tricks I use as a stylist is jewelry.

Jewelry can change the tone of any look! That’s right, even an all black look can get a facelift with accessories.

If you are not looking to overdo it on sequins and metallics let’s take a look at some accessories! These accessories are sure to put you in the mood and bring a one of a kind vibe.

Wear gold if you want to make a classic statement

Choose silver accessories for a hint of sparkle when you move

Opt for deep jewels, splash of metallics, and earth tones for mother nature vibes.

HOW CAN YOU MAKE THIS WERK FOR YOU

The reason this is a 3 Part series is because it doesn’t come easy for some of us to get dressed. We want to put dope pieces together, or wear what we see on the screen or in magazines. Yet, we get stuck with putting the actual look together.

Part 1 I showed you separates that can be paired. While in Part 2 we talked about dresses for every shape and accessories fit for any occasion.

So my goal is to give you options, and ways to find similar pieces in your closet if you have to.

By the end of this series I want you to walk away with at least one look or style you can build upon or purchase. Not just for the holidays, but everyday.

That’s my gift to you!

LETS KEEP ROLLING

Let’s keep this fashion frenzy going. And head over to part three of “Perfect Winter Living Room Outfit with Accessories” Series. We are going to discuss how to put these looks together for a Formidable Boss like you.
